We are CONNECTing to students all across the campus and in the neighboring areas, knocking on doors and meeting people right where they are, and talking about what they care about.
We believe it is important to meet with you, the students, the most important part of the STUDENT Government Association.
If you have not seen us in your building yet, you will. And if you want to speak with us, we are more than happy to do so.
While we may have left you a door hanger if you weren’t home greet us, we would love to come back and speak with you in person.
While others say that “every student is important,” we are knocking on every door, engaging students and asking what we can do for you.
Feel free to chat with us, we are in the bright orange shirts

This blog is just to clear the air about a few rumors that are going around at the moment…
Now, SGA elections are a time when many people and parties make commitments to the student body about certain initiatives they want to implement, and some are more realistic than others.
First is the promise of a kosher dining hall being built on North Campus as a part of the redevelopment of the Denton Community, along with the construction of Oakland Hall. The dining hall is being renovated to accommodate the large number of individuals using the already overflowing North Campus Diner. This new dining hall, much like the existing dining halls, will have different stations like “Cluckers,” “Salad Sensations,” and “Sprouts.” In the new dining hall, there are plans to have a kosher-style eatery called “Brooklyn Deli.” This station would be serving food that is kosher by production. However, it would not be prepared in a kosher way, as Judaism requires that there is a certified person to watch over the food preparation process. It is due to this shortfall that this new North Campus Dining Hall would have a kosher

eatery, and not one that really is kosher.
Now in terms of Saturday Finals. To change this policy would not be feasible for the next five years, as the academic calendar has already been SET for this period of time. Additionally, the University would incur huge financial costs if these dates were to be changed. In terms of changing the dates for a time later than five years from now, there are a few problems with doing this. First there are Saturday finals because there are so many classes offered that not all of the finals can fit into five days, and to eliminate Saturday finals would lead to having finals at non-standard class times like 8:00pm, followed by an 8:00am final the next day. Moreover the University cannot extend the finals days because it would incur a financial burden. It is also University policy that for religious reasons, any student may move a final exam, and instructors are accomodating if students have valid reasons.

As the forth day of campaigning has begun we’ve entered crunch time in our campaign. The excitement and craziness is at its peak and I’m looking forward to these next few days ahead before voting on Tuesday and Wednesday.
To introduce myself quickly, I’m Barbara Brennan and I’m running for ARHU Legislator with the CONNECT party. I’m a sophomore American Studies major, minoring in Leadership Studies and am from Chappaqua, New York (where the Clinton’s live!).
While I can’t make it to the Debates tonight, I know that CONNECT will dominate and show everyone how awesome we really are. What I’ve enjoyed most about CONNECT so far is the authenticity and excitement that everyone has had about our party, and their continuous efforts towards futhering the campaign. We don’t have to put other parties down to show that we’re better than them, which is something I really respect about CONNECT.
I’m also looking forward to KARAOKE tonight at EJ’s Landing! Though my singing talents aren’t the greatest, I can’t wait to spend time with CONNECT and friends in a fun enviornment. Everyone is invited to come, karaoke, ask questions and CONNECT with our party, something I know YOU don’t want to miss out on! See you there!
If you have any questions for me, Barbara Brennan, specifically, you can reach me via email at bab9489@umd.edu.

The highest single game scoring Lady Terp chatted with Wanika while giving the party her support.
I had an amazing time going around talking to fellow Terps the last couple days. If I have not met you personally yet, please feel free to facebook me. I love CONNECTing!!!
The more people I talk to, the more I realize how accurately the CONNECT Party platform reflects what we mostly want as students; greater transparency, easier access, and more caring leaders are what most people can agree on for a good student government. After all, that is why I decided to run on the CONNECT ticket. Sure, it is impossible to please everyone, but CONNECT as well as I really want to hear your thoughts. Times change, circumstances change, and therefore mindsets should be able to change. CONNECT stands for transparency within the student government. You, the voter, should have greater say over what you want. I really do take all your comments to heart. Thanks for all the insightful comments and keep them coming. Change it up with CONNECT!!!
Your Servant,
David Lai (Engineering Legislator Candidate)
